The objective of this research is to develop a non-destructive method for predicting cooked beef tenderness using optical scattering of light on fresh beef muscle tissue. A hyperspectral imaging system (λ = 496–1,036 nm) that consists of a CCD camera and an imaging spectrograph, was used to acquire beef steak images. The hyperspectral image consisted of 120 bands with spectral intervals of 4.54 nm. Sixty-one fresh beef steaks, including 44 strip loin and 17 tenderloin cuts, were collected. After imaging, the steaks were cooked and Warner-Bratzler shear (WBS) force values were collected as tenderness references. The optical scattering profiles were derived from the hyperspectral images and fitted to the modified Lorentzian function. Parameters, such as the peak height, full scattering width at half maximum (FWHM), and the slope around the FWHM were determined at each wavelength. Stepwise regression was used to identify 7 key wavelengths and parameters. The parameters were then used to predict the WBS scores. The model was able to predict WBS scores with an = 0.67. Optical scattering implemented with hyperspectral imaging shows limited success for predicting current status of tenderness in beef steak.  相似文献

Complex scattering amplitudes are used to calculate the phase contrast of colloidal gold particles. Comparison of measurements of the phase contrast intensity at the centre of the gold particle as a function of defocus for unfiltered and zero-loss filtered images demonstrates the increase in phase contrast achieved by zero-loss filtering even for a thick carbon substrate film. The granulation of amorphous germanium films is measured by the spatial rms (root mean square) values of image intensity in a defocus series.  相似文献

This paper reports a study undertaken using techniques of static and dynamic light scattering to investigate the influence of sodium salicylate and methyl salicylate on droplet size of oil-in-water emulsions. The rates of changes were measured by determining the size and distribution of the oil droplet in the material. All emulsions showed a bimodal size distribution; the mean diameters and polydispersity were calculated from intensity. These data were analyzed with nonlinear regressions and bootstrap methodology. An amount of methyl salicylate component induced a decrease of mean diameter and standard deviation. On the contrary, sodium salicylate entailed the growth of all droplet populations and coalescence for the highest concentration.  相似文献

The solution behaviour of a new mesogenic side group polyacrylate in tetrahydrofuran and toluene has been investigated by static and dynamic light scattering. In the dilute regime the polymer behaves as typical polydisperse linear chains in good solvent and the dynamics is dominated by a single fast mode. Cluster formation was detected starting at a concentration around 50 g l−1. It seems to be independent of the solvent as well as of polymer molecular weight. In the semidilute regime, the behaviour of the reduced osmotic modulus leads to the conclusion that repulsion between the chains is stronger than in linear macromolecules. The appearance of larger clusters was revealed above a characteristic concentration and is slightly dependent on the polyacrylate molecular weight. The dynamics was generally characterised by a fast mode related to the cooperative diffusion and by a slow mode associated with large clusters. The existence of a network of multiconnected clusters is envisaged with increasing solution concentration.  相似文献

The laser-induced thermal grating technique has been used to determine the thermal diffusivity of liquids and liquid mixtures. But the dynamic behaviour of the transient thermal grating has not yet been thoroughly investigated, and the systematic errors, which result from the departures from one-dimensional heat conduction, have scarcely been studied quantitatively. In this paper. a three-dimensional numerical simulation and results of the transient thermal grating technique are presented, which enable a good understanding of the dynamic behaviour of the transient thermal grating. The results of this simulation are important for the proper design of the experimental setup to keep the systematic errors for the diffusivity measurement small. Based on the simulation method, the systematic errors were analyzed quantitatively. Here, the following effects were studied: (I) sample thickness, (2) intersection angle, (3) absorption, (4) Gaussian beam intensity distribution and focusing of heating laser beam, and (5) heating pulse duration and laser power. This error analysis makes it possible to specify the criteria for optimum measuring conditions, to correct the measured thermal-diffusivity values for systematic errors, and to estimate the accuracy of the measurements.  相似文献

This work is devoted to a study of a conjugated infinite element method for Helmholtz problems in exterior domains. A formulation of this method with Lagrange multipliers defined on (semi-)infinite space is presented and analyzed in a domain decomposition context. The implementation aspects of this method in a parallel industrial acoustic software (SYSNOISE) are described in details. Numerical results show the computational efficiency of this method on acoustic scattering problems.  相似文献

复杂形体目标激光散射特征的测量系统中,利用反射式离轴光路满足了可见到远红外波段的测量需要,通过大孔径(250mm)物方远心接收光路实现了对实际远场的模拟测量,以光滑镀金球体作为标准器,可直接获得任意目标散射截面的绝对值。在0.6328、1.06和10.6μm三个波段针对标准器的实测结果表明,平均误差小于4.95%。  相似文献

The static and dynamic properties of solutions of a side chain polysiloxane liquid crystal polymer have been studied in a cyanobiphenyl nematic host as a function of concentration and temperature. Refractive index measurements were carried out on aligned samples and the data used to determine the macroscopic order parameter, S, using Haller's method. Photon correlation spectroscopy has been used to measure (k22γ1) for the pure nematic solvent and the solutions. From these measurements it appears that the static properties vary slowly and linearly with increasing polymer concentration whilst the dynamic or viscoelastic properties change markedly. This change has been attributed to γ1, the twist viscosity, and the results have been discussed in terms of the function of the siloxane polymer backbone.  相似文献
